I’m Heather Thorkelson ~ Architect of Freedom, Idea Generator, and International sherpa.
I help clever, motivated, unconventional world-changers throw off the shackles + build a livelihood they L-O-V-E. I know how to do it because I’ve done it myself – several times over.
It’s hard to pinpoint exactly where it began, but moving to Japan when I was 19, purposely without plan nor place to live, was probably the first of many leaps of faith that helped me become an expert at living with uncertainty.
After teaching in Japan, I managed a private school staff of 15 in Mexico, toured Australia with one of Canada’s rock royalty as a north Indian classical tabla player, swooped into South Africa to bring social media savvy to an HIV non-profit, launched a duo of online jewelry & handbag shops, and even sold mailbox supplies in Vancouver back in the beginning when I was dirt poor and living in a converted garage.
I’ve traveled to every continent on earth, rocked (and then happily fled) the corporate world, and then became a certified coach through the Coaches Training Institute. These days, I live in Lima, Peru – two blocks from the beach, with no plans to leave.
All this travel and entrepreneurial adventuring? It makes me unconditionally well-qualified to assist you in the ways of intelligent non-conformity + professional liberation. The proof is in the pudding.
But you know what’s more important?
I don’t do this work simply because I have the background and training. And I don’t do it because it’s easy (it’s not). I do it because I freaking LOVE helping people carve their own path and build their very own Republic of Freedom. It’s one of my greatest passions.
And that’s what you’ll always get from me.
